Charitable Fund “Caritas-Kyiv” (Kyiv, Ukraine) is a charitable organization established in 1992 the main target of which is providing charity activities in the interests of society and some categories of needy people. Director of this Fund is Syrotych Roman.

I.                   Current charitable activity of  Charitable Fund “Сaritas-Kyiv”.  

Nowadays in “Caritas-Kyiv” there are 20 staff members and 15 volunteers. The main directions of the Fund activity are:

-          moral, psychological and material support of humanitarian, social, cultural and health-connected issues;

-          aiding low-income groups such as families having many children,  orphan children, aged people.

Thousands of the needy have been granted charitable aid within the period of 18 years of the Fund activity.

 The main projects being fulfilled now are:

 1. “Сhildren of the street” - “Consolidation and enhancement of mobile work with the young in Ukraine”.

The project is aimed at encouraging social reintegration and providing social safety of children who live in the most unfavorable social environment, namely children of the street. We give aid to 40 persons – “children of the street” in terms of improving their life situation including education, social service so that the children can find prospect in their life,  develop their positive features and obtain labor skills, which in the future will enable them to earn their living by themselves.

 2. “Co-financing the programme of Home care of the aged and HIV- and AIDS-positive people”. The project is aimed at aiding lonely sick low-income aged people and the disabled, namely 300 people. Medical staff visit the aged, give them medical assistance (take their blood pressure, give them medicine, injections and other medical aid), social help (buy food, clean flats, cook meals etc) and other kinds of assistance.

 3. “Home care of the HIV-positive” project. The project is aimed at improving life conditions of HIV- and AIDS-positive people in Kyiv.

 4. “Involvement of young generation in healthy life” project. Football playing lessons with children of the street, children from one-parent and large families are conducted throughout the academic year.

5. «Charitable laundry» project. The needy are given an opportunity to have their clothes washed for free.

6. ”Charitable sewing workshop” project. The aged as well as children of the street and children from problem families are given an opportunity to have their clothes mended, linen sewn etc.

7. ”Humanitarian aid” project. We give assistance to the needy who come to our social center. Also, we give assistance to the social center of Dniprovsk district, to the Congress of invalids, families having many children etc.

8. ”Charitable hairdresser” project. The needy are served by hairdressers (1 staff member and 4 volunteers).

9. “Granting spiritual and material support to women prisoners and their children born in a place of confinement ”. The project is aimed at granting spiritual and material support to women prisoners and their children (who were born in prisons) serving a term of imprisonment in correctional facilities (in Chernihiv, Ternopil, Kirovohrad, Uman, Kharkiv), in the Home of Child of Chernihiv penal colony where 35 children under 3 years of age are kept.
